In the last weeks I spent much time in implementing a synchronization mechanism that is flexible, powerful and easy to use. I decided to use Bonjour to manage the connection between the desktop version of pulse-o-meter and the iPhone version I am developing at the moment. This is a zero-confguration-network. You as user do not need any knowledge of networking, FTP, or other protocols. All you need is an iPhone that is connected to the same network (via WIFI) as your Mac. This is the same technique Apple tools like iPhoto or iTunes use to commnicate with external devices.
