New features in Pulse-O-Meter

Yesterday we updated Pulse-O-Meter and added a few exciting new features.

  • NEW – Direct  upload from Garmin devices (Garmin Communicator)
  • NEW – Pulse data generation for devices that don’t support pulse curve generation
  • NEW – Added altitude over pulse diagram
  • NEW – Import overview – you now have the chance to edit your data directly after importing
  • Improvement of pulse data handling

Garmin import directly via USB

Importing trainings from Garmin devices to Pulse-O-Meter is much easier now. You can download the data directly from your heart-rate monitor to www.Pulse-O-Meter.com as we integrated the Garmin browser plugin.

Just connect your device via USB, start the import, choose the trainings you want to receive and a few seconds later you can start analyzing your trainings. The plugin is available for Windows and Mac browsers (download here). Please contact us if you encounter any problem using this feature.

Delivering

Yeah! After 3 months and 28 days work we are now live!
We were quite surprised that the time we needed to come to this point was “just” 4 months (3 months and 28 days to be precise). It seemed like at least double the time but this maybe due to the intense time that we had.
We want to thank everybody who was involved in the last weeks and months:

  • Dirk M. for helping us at the beginning with our (pardon my) stupid questions and for his help whenever we had trouble with the development. He also helped amazing during the test phase.
  • Thijs for the coding sessions until morning and his help during the startup phase.
  • Marleen for the proof-reading of the texts (eventhough it might be still too nerdy)
  • Vera for the texts and the deciding vote on the designs.
  • Eva for the huge amount of design work and for the amazing layouts, that left Bernd and me always astonished.
  • The Brownies in Cologne for hosting hundreds of our meetings and providing us with Wi-Fi, food and drinks .

These last months were pretty intense, but it was worth every second.
So if you are a serious athlete and are as frustrated as we were 4 months ago with the insufficient solutions to manage your training data you should sign up at Pulse-O-Meter.
We will now continue adding new features and finish the companion Mac desktop application and the iPhone application to provide our users with the ultimate training diary.

pulse-o-meter 0.9.2 – bugfixes and usability

After some hard fights with some easy looking features, pulse-o-meter 0.9.2 is now available in the download area. The biggest change is a volume-indicator for SonicLink imports, which will solve most of the users import problems. The second new feature is a progress indicator that displays the progress if you import a directory that contains many files. I also implemented some performance improvements as I underestimated how long it takes to parse dozens of XML-Files every time pulse-o-meter starts.
